My brother’s girlfriend asked me to make a CC Beanie for her. I couldn’t find a pattern for the hats sold in stores, however, I did find a copy cat version and it will be my next project. This is my very first knitting project so wish me luck!
Clementine Knits & Crochets from Missouri wrote the pattern after a trip to Chicago. It’s called Copy.Cat C.C. (Colorado Chick) Beanie. So, the required materials are size 4 worsted weight yarn, Size 7 (4.5mm) 16 inch circular knitting needles, a tapestry needle, stitch marker, and possibly some scrap yarn. I will be using Red Heart Amore, color is Peaceful.
The pattern says to cast on 86 stitches to start this hat.
For the next round the pattern says stitch one knit and one purl stitch for the whole round. As you can see in this next photo, I did better toward the end of the row than at the beginning. So, I think I’m going to take this apart and do it again!
This time around turned out much better don’t you think?
In the next round, we’re supposed to knit 1×1 twisted ribbing. I’m watching the tutorial as well as reading the written pattern. The tutorial is on YouTube, Knitting Tutorial / Copy Cat C.C. Beanie. I love videos because I can go back as many times as I need to get the stitch right. I like to use both at the same time so I can learn the terminology. Trying this right now, I don’t think I am getting this part right. So I need to practice on scrap yarn.
I felt like I had practiced enough, so I tried it on the hat and look what happened!
Somehow I mixed up when to knit and purl, so it looks mixed up! This has been more difficult than teaching myself to crochet so far. I have had to step away and take a break from this project several times to keep my sanity. But I know I can do this!
