When I first decided to open a blog and an Etsy shop, all I was thinking about was a way to earn money doing something I love. I’ve had so many ideas that sound good in my head, but once I get those ideas out there, it doesn’t look or feel the way I intended. Figuring it all out has been overwhelming and I’ve thought about giving up. Now I realize that it’s isn’t going to happen overnight. Plus I don’t want to teach my kids that just because something isn’t happening as fast as you’d like, doesn’t mean you should stop. If you fail, get back up and go at it again!
There has been a lot of learning going on for me lately. Learning what people want to see and when they want to see it. How to take photos that look great. Learning new crochet techniques and stitches. Teaching myself how to knit. Practicing my writing skills, which have been under-used since high school. Remembering that patience is very important whether I’m disciplining my kids, or writing about something, or when my husband takes off his muddy work boots in the middle of my clean floor.
There are so many things out there that intimidate me, but when I look at my work, I have a sense of pride. I love the things I crochet. The quality of my stitches, the colors I end up using. It is hardly ever planned, I just go with my creative flow!
Below is the moss stitch blanket that I haven’t named yet. After I finish up the flowers, I’ll weaves these tails in and I’ll take photos of the finished project to share with everyone!
